Creative Diagnostics provides research services including antigen-antibody products, ELISA kits, pseudovirus products, or neutralizing antibodies for your studies. The following is an overview of NiV and our related offerings.
Nipah virus (NiV) is an emerging bat-borne pathogen. The first known case of NiV was documented in 1998 in the Malaysian town of Sungai Nipah, followed by cases in Bangladesh, India, Singapore, and the Philippines1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), it poses a threat of bioterrorism.

Table 1 Function and Structure of Key Proteins
| Protein | Function | Research Applications |
| G protein | Receptor recognition (ephrin-B2/B3) and tetrameric structure | Neutralize antibody targets and facilitate vaccine antigen design |
| F protein | Membrane fusion and prefusion/postfusion conformational changes | Entering the development of inhibitors and the fusion of pre-stabilized vaccines |
| N protein | The genome is encapsulated, forming the nucleocapsid. | ELISA for antigen detection and viral load measurement |
| L protein | RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) | Antiviral drug targets |
Among them, fusion proteins and attachment proteins are the core components of viral pathogenesis and key targets for therapeutic interventions.
NiV-related ELISA kits are primarily categorized into two major types: antigen detection and antibody detection.
Antigen Detection ELISA: These kits are used to directly detect the presence of viral proteins in a sample. They are suitable for diagnosing infections during the early stages and typically consist of either a NiV Glycoprotein G (NiV-G) ELISA or a NiV Nucleoprotein (NP/N) ELISA.
Antibody Detection ELISA: These include the anti-NiV Nucleoprotein (NP) IgG ELISA and the anti-NiV Nucleoprotein (NP) IgM ELISA. They are suitable for epidemiological investigations, determining the stage of infection, and evaluating the efficacy of vaccination.
Because live virus manipulation is limited to BSL-4 laboratories, pseudovirus systems based on vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) or lentiviral backbones have become crucial tools for studying viral entry mechanisms and screening neutralizing antibodies.
Construction Principle: Nipah virus F and G proteins are co-expressed on the surface of pseudovirus particles, and the internally encapsulated reporter genes (such as GFP or luciferase) can be used for quantification.
Application Scenarios: This system is suitable for high-throughput screening of viral entry inhibitors and for serological surveillance in BSL-2 laboratory settings, detecting specific neutralizing antibodies in human or animal serum.
Monoclonal antibodies targeting viral surface glycoproteins represent one of the most promising therapeutic approaches.
Antibodies targeting the G protein: Block the binding of the virus to its receptor.
Antibodies targeting the F protein: Inhibit the process of membrane fusion. Antibody cocktail therapy (the combined use of antibodies targeting different epitopes) has demonstrated more potent, broad-spectrum neutralizing effects.
Fully Human Single-Domain Antibodies: The fully human single-domain antibody n425 - due to its smaller molecular weight—may possess the potential to cross the blood-brain barrier, holding significant implications for the treatment of viral encephalitis.

Due to Nipah virus's high biosafety classification and high fatality rate, research into drugs and vaccines for the Nipah virus (NiV) has historically been constrained by the pathogen's extreme virulence and the stringent requirements for experimental facilities. We offer a comprehensive range of related products, including antigens, antibodies, ELISA kits, and PCR detection kits. Additionally, we provide neutralization antibody detection services and pseudotyped NiV reporter virus products to support your vaccine development efforts.
Allow us to introduce our pseudovirus products. These reporter viruses are engineered viral particles designed for single-cycle replication. Through artificial modification, these particles retain specific characteristics of the original virus while being rendered non-pathogenic, effectively becoming safe pseudoviral particles. Compared to wild-type viruses, pseudoviruses offer distinct advantages such as high sensitivity, high specificity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use. Furthermore, because these genetically modified particles lack replication competence and pathogenicity, pseudoviruses constructed for high-risk pathogens—such as the Nipah virus—can be safely handled in Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratories. This completely eliminates the immense risks associated with directly handling the live virus, which typically requires a BSL-4 facility.
Our Nipah virus pseudoviruses incorporate the Nipah virus G and F proteins and carry reporter genes such as firefly luciferase, GFP, or mCherry. Most variants are replication-defective (with some exceptions); consequently, they do not produce new viral particles after infecting host cells, ensuring a high level of safety while structurally closely mimicking the authentic Nipah virus. Taking product COV-SA008 as an example, our viral titer can reach 10^7.75 TCID50/mL. We have utilized our in-house packaged pseudoviruses to perform titer assays for candidate neutralizing antibodies; using Clone 2D3 as a positive control, the neutralizing effect was clearly evident.
