Materials and Reagents

Colloidal gold is a suspension (or colloid) of submicrometre-size particles of gold in a fluid, usually water. The liquid is usually either an intense red color (for particles less than 100 nm) or blue/purple (for larger particles). Due to the unique optical, electronic, and molecular-recognition properties of gold nanoparticles, they are the subject of substantial research, with applications in a wide variety of areas, including electron microscopy, electronics, nanotechnology, and materials science. Properties and applications of colloidal gold nanoparticles strongly depend upon their size and shape.

An adjuvant is a pharmacological and/or immunological agent that modifies the effect of other agents. Adjuvants are inorganic or organic chemicals, macromolecules or entire cells of certain killed bacteria, which enhance the immune response to an antigen. They may be included in a vaccine to enhance the recipient's immune response to the supplied antigen, thus minimizing the amount of injected foreign material. Adjuvants are also used in the production of antibodies from immunized animals.

Creative Diagnostics manufactures gold colloid in Various range of sizes and immunization adjuvant specifically designed for rapid production of high titers of antibodies.
