General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-L1344W) is a humanized-derived monoclonal antibody raised against human 25-OH-VD. 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH Vitamin D), also known as 25(OH)D or calcidiol, is the major circulating metabolite of vitamin D and the primary clinical indicator of vitamin D status. It is produced in the liver by hydroxylation of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) or vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) via hepatic 25-hydroxylases. Because of its relatively long half-life (approximately 2–3 weeks) and stable serum concentration, 25(OH)D is widely measured to assess vitamin D sufficiency, deficiency, or toxicity. Physiologically, 25(OH)D itself has limited biological activity but serves as the precursor for the hormonally active form, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (calcitriol), which is generated primarily in the kidney through 1α-hydroxylation. Adequate levels of 25(OH)D are essential for calcium and phosphate homeostasis, bone mineralization, and overall skeletal health. Emerging research also links vitamin D status to immune regulation, cardiovascular function, and metabolic health. Clinically, serum 25(OH)D measurement is considered the gold standard biomarker for evaluating vitamin D nutritional status.
