General Description
An Anti-Beta2 Glycoprotein I IgG/IgM test detects autoantibodies that attack the protein beta-2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI), which is associated with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). A positive result may indicate a higher risk of blood clots or recurrent miscarriages, but for a diagnosis of APS, the antibodies must be persistent, detected on two separate occasions at least 12 weeks apart. The test is often ordered with other antiphospholipid antibody tests, such as anticardiolipin antibodies and lupus anticoagulant.
