General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-BL2913) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human PKM, targeting the amino acid region 1–531 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human PKM from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Pyruvate kinase muscle isozyme (PKM) is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the final, rate-limiting step of glycolysis, converting phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to pyruvate with the concomitant generation of ATP. Encoded by the PKM gene, it exists primarily as two alternatively spliced isoforms, PKM1 and PKM2. PKM1 is constitutively active and predominantly expressed in differentiated tissues such as muscle and brain, supporting high oxidative metabolism. In contrast, PKM2 is more dynamically regulated and widely expressed in proliferating cells, including cancer cells, where it facilitates metabolic reprogramming (the Warburg effect) by balancing ATP production with biosynthetic precursor generation. Beyond its metabolic role, PKM2 can translocate to the nucleus and participate in transcriptional regulation, linking cellular metabolism to gene expression and cell proliferation control.
CABT-BL2913 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
CABT-BL2913 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
