TLRs are expressed on the cell surface and in the endocytic compartment with the purpose of recognizing pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) expressed on infectious agents. In addition TLR\'s initiate cell signalling to induce production of cytokines necessary for the innate immunity and subsequent adaptive immunity.TLR3 is expressed by dendritic cells and B lymphocytes.
