This product (Catalog No. DPABH-00777) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human REN, targeting the amino acid region 67–179 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Renin is an aspartyl protease enzyme secreted by the juxtaglomerular cells in the kidneys, functioning as a key component of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) to regulate blood pressure, fluid volume, and electrolyte balance. It initiates the RAAS cascade by cleaving the plasma protein angiotensinogen into angiotensin I, a rate-limiting step that ultimately leads to the production of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor and stimulator of aldosterone release. Discovered over a century ago, renin was identified for its role in blood pressure regulation, with its enzymatic activity first characterized in the early 20th century through studies on renal extracts.
DPABH-00777 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-00777 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
