Target
L-Cysteine Hydrochloride
Molecular Weight
157.62 g/mol
Introduction
L-Cysteine hydrochloride is a stable salt form of the sulfur-containing amino acid L-cysteine, important in redox balance, disulfide bond formation, and glutathione biosynthesis. It is widely used as a reducing agent, cell culture supplement, and precursor in metabolic and enzymatic studies involving thiol chemistry. Its reactivity makes it valuable in investigations of oxidative stress, protein folding, and thiol-based catalytic mechanisms.
Keywords
