Reconstitute the protein with 100 μL of deionized water
Introduction
HCV core protein, derived from N-terminal 191 amino acids of the polyprotein, is the only HCV protein to directly interact with and encapsulate HCV genomic RNA and form nucleocapsids. The HCV core protein consists of three domains: the highly cationic domain 1, with approximately 117 amino acids, is the major domain to associate with HCV genomic RNA and to form nucleocapsids; the hydrophobic domain 2 is responsible for association with lipid droplets crucial for infectious virus particle productions; the domain 3, also hydrophobic, is the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) anchoring domain. The majority of HCV core protein is found to locate at the ER, mitochondria, and lipid droplets in cytoplasm.
