General Notes
It is reported that 70% -80% of patients with primary membranous nephropathy have circulating autoantibodies against PLA2R. PLA2R is mainly divided into two types (M type and N type), and it has been confirmed that M type PLA2R is the main target antigen of autoantibodies. In PLA2R-MN kidney tissue, IgG subclass staining primarily shows positivity for IgG4, with smaller portions showing positivity for IgG1 and IgG3. PLA2R1 co-localizes with IgG4 in the immune complex deposits within the glomeruli. PLA2R1 is the primary target antigen in membranous nephropathy, and detecting PLA2R1 antibodies in circulating blood plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and monitoring of the disease activity of idiopathic membranous nephropathy.
