General Description
Anti-single-stranded DNA (anti-ssDNA) antibodies are antibodies that specifically target single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), commonly associated with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (lupus) and rheumatoid arthritis. The anti-ssDNA test quantifies the levels of these autoantibodies in the blood, aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of autoimmune conditions, although it is less sensitive than the anti-double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA) test for lupus. Elevated levels may indicate more severe SLE, be associated with drug-induced lupus, or occur in other conditions such as preeclampsia and diabetes.
