General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-L1536W) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human IGF-II. Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2), also known as IGF-II, is a 7.5 kDa peptide hormone that structurally resembles insulin and plays a pivotal role in regulating cell proliferation, growth, differentiation, migration, and survival during fetal development and beyond. Encoded by the IGF2 gene located on the short arm of chromosome 11 (11p15.5), it is subject to genomic imprinting, meaning it is predominantly expressed from the paternal allele, with the maternal allele silenced through DNA methylation at an imprinting control region. This hormone is highly expressed in fetal tissues such as the liver, placenta, and muscle, where it acts in endocrine, paracrine, and autocrine manners to promote embryonic growth, particularly of the placenta and musculoskeletal system, while its circulating levels in humans remain relatively stable across postnatal life, unlike the more transient expression seen in rodents.
CABT-L1536W is suitable for use in ELISA application.
CABT-L1536W is supplied as a lyophilized formulation. Reconstitute with 50 μl of distilled water for the equivalent of undiluted antiserum. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
