General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-27550) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human PRKCG, targeting the amino acid region 31–316 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human PRKCG from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. PRKCG is a human gene that encodes protein kinase C gamma (PKCγ), a calcium-activated, phospholipid- and diacylglycerol-dependent serine/threonine-specific protein kinase belonging to the conventional subclass of the protein kinase C (PKC) family. This enzyme plays essential roles in diverse cellular signaling pathways, particularly in neuronal cells, where it mediates processes such as long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), synaptic plasticity, and responses to oxidative stress. Primarily expressed in the brain and spinal cord with localization restricted to neurons (low expression also detected in testis), PKCγ features conserved domains including C2 for calcium-dependent lipid binding, C1 for phorbol ester/diacylglycerol binding, and a catalytic serine/threonine kinase domain (EC 2.7.11.13). Mutations in PRKCG cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 14 (SCA14), an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cerebellar ataxia, often with additional features like cognitive impairment or myoclonus depending on the mutation site. Recent studies (as of 2023) have identified additional missense variants, such as p.Arg59His, expanding the mutational spectrum in diverse populations.
DPABH-27550 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-27550 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
