General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-23546) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human ESD, targeting the amino acid region 1–282 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human ESD from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. The ESD gene encodes esterase D (EC 3.1.1.56), a serine hydrolase belonging to the esterase D family that functions as a nonspecific esterase active toward numerous substrates, including O-acetylated sialic acids and S-formylglutathione. As S-formylglutathione hydrolase (EC 3.1.2.12), it plays a key role in formaldehyde detoxification by hydrolyzing S-formylglutathione—formed from formaldehyde and glutathione via formaldehyde dehydrogenase—into formate and reduced glutathione, thereby aiding in the removal of this toxic metabolite. The enzyme is dimeric, exhibits genetic polymorphism with multiple alleles (e.g., ESD1 and ESD2), and shows ubiquitous expression across human tissues, with highest levels in the thyroid and ovary.
DPABH-23546 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-23546 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
