Antigen Description
Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant agent generally used in the treatment of partial seizures in children and adults with epilepsy. It is a structural derivative of carbamazepine, with an extra oxygen atom to the benzylcarboxamide group. The presence of an extra oxygen atom in the structure reduces the susceptibility of the drug to hepatic metabolism, leading to prolonged pharmacological action or half life of the drug.
