General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-L1552W) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human Urotensin II. Urotensin-II (U-II) is a cyclic undecapeptide hormone comprising 11 amino acids, characterized by a conserved C-terminal hexapeptide sequence (CFWKYC) essential for its biological activity, and serves as the endogenous ligand for the urotensin-II receptor (UT), a G protein-coupled receptor that modulates cardiovascular and renal functions. First isolated from the caudal neurosecretory system of teleost fish in the 1960s and cloned in humans in 1998, U-II exhibits potent vasoconstrictive effects in various vascular beds, though its actions can shift to vasodilation in the presence of intact endothelium via stimulation of nitric oxide and prostaglandin release. In humans, mature U-II is processed from larger prepro-U-II precursors (124 or 139 amino acids) by enzymes such as furin and trypsin, and it shares structural homology with the related peptide urotensin-II-related peptide (URP), which also activates the UT receptor.
CABT-L1552W is suitable for use in ELISA application.
CABT-L1552W is supplied as a lyophilized formulation. Reconstitute with 50 μl of distilled water for the equivalent of undiluted antiserum. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
