This antibody is recommended to be used in the detection of GD2 positive tumor cells in the marrow specimens using immunofluorescence staining. It is also recommended for staining of neuroblastoma cells and analysing them using flow cytometry. The anti-GD2 scFv 5F11 recombinantly fused to streptavidin (5F11-scFv-SA) formed a homo-tetramer and showed high GD2 binding. 5F11-scFv-SA allowed inhibition of the binding of anti-5F11 antiidiotypic antibody 1G8 to 5F11 in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Diphtheria toxins fused to scFv 5F11 demonstrated specific killing of GD2+ tumor cells independent of host immune function. This antibody was also used for the development of bispecific antibody (5F11-scBA) to target disialoganglioside (GD2) positive tumors
