General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-L1316W) is a human-derived monoclonal antibody raised against bovine Alpha Gal. Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (Alpha-Gal) is a carbohydrate antigenic epitope characterized by the structure Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc-R. It is naturally present in most non-primate mammalian tissues but is absent in humans and other Old World primates due to evolutionary loss of the α1,3-galactosyltransferase gene. Because humans can produce anti–Alpha-Gal antibodies, sensitization to this epitope is associated with alpha-gal syndrome, a form of delayed-type food allergy often triggered by consumption of red meat such as beef, pork, or lamb, and sometimes linked to tick bites that induce IgE responses. Alpha-Gal is clinically significant in allergy research, xenotransplantation immunology, and biologic therapeutics due to its potential to cause immune rejection and hypersensitivity reactions.
CABT-L1316W is suitable for use in ELISA application.
CABT-L1316W is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
