Introduction
This protein is associated with snRNP U1.
Antigen Description
This gene encodesone of the specific protein components of the U1 small nuclearribonucleoprotein (snRNP) particle required for the formation of thespliceosome. The encoded protein participates in the processing of nuclearprecursor messenger RNA splicing. snRNP particles are attacked byautoantibodies frequently produced by patients with connective tissuediseases. The genome contains several pseudogenes of this functional gene.Alternative splicing results in a non-coding transcript variant.
