General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-05094) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human TTPA, targeting the amino acid region 218–278 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human TTPA from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Alpha-tocopherol transfer protein (α-TTP), encoded by the TTPA gene on human chromosome 8q12.3, is a soluble cytosolic protein primarily expressed in the liver that selectively binds alpha-tocopherol—the most potent and biologically active form of vitamin E—with high affinity, facilitating its incorporation into nascent very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particles for secretion into the bloodstream and subsequent distribution to peripheral tissues. This protein plays a central role in maintaining vitamin E homeostasis by preventing the hepatic degradation of alpha-tocopherol and ensuring its selective transfer between lipid membranes, thereby supporting antioxidant defense mechanisms essential for protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage. Structural studies reveal that α-TTP consists of an N-terminal helical domain and a C-terminal domain, featuring a hydrophobic binding pocket that accommodates the chromanol ring and isoprenoid tail of alpha-tocopherol through van der Waals interactions and a hydrogen-bonding network, enabling efficient lipid transfer without requiring ATP or other cofactors.
DPABH-05094 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:500–1:2,000), IHC (1:50–1:500) applications.
DPABH-05094 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
