General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24409) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human SERINC3. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human SERINC3 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. SERINC3 is a protein-coding gene located on the human chromosome 20q13.12 that encodes a multipass transmembrane protein belonging to the SERINC family, which facilitates the incorporation of serine into phosphatidylserine and sphingolipids while exhibiting phospholipid scramblase activity. The protein, consisting of 473 amino acids with 11 predicted transmembrane domains, is ubiquitously expressed across human tissues, with highest levels in the brain and testis, and plays a key role in plasma membrane phospholipid scrambling as part of the antiviral innate immune response. As a host restriction factor, SERINC3 potently inhibits the infectivity of lentiviruses such as HIV-1 by incorporating into viral particles during budding, thereby disrupting envelope stability and fusion with target cells; this effect is counteracted by the HIV-1 accessory protein Nef, which downregulates SERINC3 surface expression to promote viral replication. SERINC3 collaborates with its paralog SERINC5 to enhance this restriction, and depletion of both proteins significantly boosts the infectivity of Nef-deficient HIV-1 virions, mimicking the proviral effects of Nef.
DPABH-24409 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:200–1:1,000), IHC (1:50–1:500) applications.
DPABH-24409 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
