General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-05758) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human RPL5, targeting the amino acid region 50–250 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. 60S ribosomal protein L5, also known as RPL5 or uL18, is a highly conserved protein that forms a key structural component of the large (60S) subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome, which is essential for catalyzing protein synthesis in the cytoplasm. Encoded by the human RPL5 gene located on chromosome 1p22.1, this 297-amino-acid protein belongs to the L18P family of ribosomal proteins and binds directly to 5S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) to form a stable 5S ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, which facilitates the transport of 5S rRNA from the cytoplasm to the nucleolus and its incorporation into pre-ribosomes during 60S subunit biogenesis. Beyond its core role in ribosome assembly and translation, RPL5 exhibits extraribosomal functions, including the inhibition of tumorigenesis by binding to MDM2 and stabilizing the p53 tumor suppressor protein in response to nucleolar stress or ribosomal biogenesis defects.
DPABH-05758 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-05758 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
