General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-08801) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human PTN, targeting the amino acid region 33–168 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human PTN from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Pleiotrophin (PTN), also known as heparin-binding growth-associated molecule (HB-GAM) or osteoblast-specific factor 1 (OSF-1), is a secreted 18-kDa cytokine and growth factor belonging to the midkine/pleiotrophin family of heparin-binding proteins. It is a small, highly basic protein composed of 168 amino acids, with a mature form of 136 residues after cleavage of an N-terminal signal peptide, featuring two thrombospondin type-1 repeat (TSR) domains that facilitate binding to glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as heparan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate. Encoded by the PTN gene on human chromosome 7q33, PTN exhibits over 90% sequence conservation across mammals and was independently discovered around 1990 by multiple research groups as a mitogenic factor for fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells, initially purified from various tissues including bovine uterus, rat brain, and human osteosarcoma cells.
DPABH-08801 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-08801 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
