'Su larga trenza de pelo negro': The Phenomenon of Disordered Mourning in Carmen Laforet's Nada by Caragh Wells Nada's enduring significance lies in its ambiguity and in the difficulty in understanding Andrea's complex psychology.. is article argues that the story explores what John W. Bowlby described as 'disordered mourning'. Developing Barry Jordan's reading, Andrea fails to experience normal self-development owing to an incomplete mourning process following her mother's death; Andrea's grief is therefore fundamental.
