This product (Catalog No. DPABH-23343) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human MMP12, targeting the amino acid region 290–469 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Matrix metallopeptidase 12 (MMP-12), also known as macrophage metalloelastase, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase enzyme belonging to the matrix metalloproteinase family, primarily expressed in macrophages and involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components such as elastin. Encoded by the MMP12 gene located on chromosome 11q22.2, the protein is synthesized as a 470-amino-acid preproenzyme that undergoes proteolytic processing to yield a mature 22-kDa catalytic form capable of cleaving insoluble elastin and other substrates like collagen types I, IV, and V. Beyond matrix remodeling, MMP-12 exhibits antimicrobial properties by disrupting bacterial cell walls in macrophage phagolysosomes, aiding in pathogen clearance at sites like the lungs and peritoneum.
DPABH-23343 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-23343 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
