Involved in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane. Together with Keratin 8, is involved in interleukin-6 (IL-6)-mediated barrier protection. Keratin 19 is involved in the organization of myofibers. Together with Keratin 8, helps to link the contractile apparatus to dystrophin at the costameres of striated muscle.
