PSF3 is a member of the heterotetrameric GINS complex which is essential for formation of replication forks and replisome progression in DNA replication. The precise function of GINS is unclear, but it is thought to activate the MCM2-7 complex and also to interact with DNA polymerases alpha and epsilon. The other members of the GINS complex are PSF1, PSF2 and SLD5.
