General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24778) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human BMP3, targeting the amino acid region 363–472 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human BMP3 from rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Bone morphogenetic protein 3 (BMP-3), also known as osteogenin, is a secreted signaling protein belonging to the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily that primarily functions as a negative regulator of osteogenesis and bone density. Encoded by the BMP3 gene located on chromosome 4q21.21 in humans, BMP-3 is synthesized as a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed into a mature disulfide-linked homodimer with a characteristic cystine-knot structure typical of TGF-β family members. Unlike most BMPs that promote bone formation, BMP-3 antagonizes the osteogenic effects of BMP-2 and BMP-4 by binding to activin type II receptors (such as ACVR2B) without activating canonical BMP signaling pathways, thereby inhibiting osteoblast differentiation from mesenchymal stem cells. It is the most abundant BMP in adult bone matrix, expressed prominently by osteoblasts and osteocytes, as well as in tissues like the lung and urinary bladder.
DPABH-24778 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-24778 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
