Triptolide is a diterpenoid epoxide isolated from Tripterygium wilfordii, widely studied for its potent immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, and pro-apoptotic activities. It inhibits RNA polymerase II–mediated transcription, disrupts heat-shock responses, and modulates multiple signaling pathways including NF-κB and MAPK. Due to its strong cytotoxicity and molecular specificity, triptolide is commonly used as a tool compound in studies of cancer biology, inflammatory signaling, natural-product pharmacology, and apoptosis mechanisms.
