SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF SULFONAMIDES IN PHARMACEUTICALS BY DERIVATIVE SPECTROPHOTOMETRY
A method for the simultaneous determination of sulphanilamide and sulphadiazine by third-derivative spectrophotometry has been developed. The applicable concentration range was 0.5-14.0 mug/ml for sulphanilamide and 1.0-20.0 mug/ml for sulphadiazine, respectively. Analogously, a method for the simultaneous determination of sulphathiazole and sulphanilamide in the presence of sulphadiazine is proposed using fourth derivative spectrophotometry. In this procedure, the range of application is 1.0-20.0 mug/ml for sulphathiazole and 0.5-14.0 mug/ml for sulphanilamide, in the presence of up to 20.0 mug/ml of sulphadiazine. Both methods do not require any separation step. The methods were applied for determining these sulphonamides in pharmaceuticals products.
