Introduction
The FljB protein of Salmonella abortus-equi is a bacterial flagellin, one of the major structural components of the flagellar filament. As a highly immunogenic protein, FljB contributes to bacterial motility and plays an important role in host–pathogen interactions by stimulating innate immune receptors such as Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5). In S. abortus-equi, which is an equine-adapted serovar associated with abortion and systemic infection in horses, FljB serves both as a virulence factor facilitating colonization and dissemination, and as a potential diagnostic marker or vaccine target due to its antigenic properties.
