CyFRA21 is a protein found in the blood that is used as a biomarker to detect inflammation and tissue damage. It is often measured in patients with autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, as well as infections, traumatic injuries, and cancer. Higher levels of CyFRA21 are associated with increased disease activity and poorer outcomes.
