Introduction
Babesia canis is an apicomplexan tick-transmitted protozoan responsible for causing piroplasmosis in dogs. In many regions of Europe and west Asia, this parasite has been reported as the important and frequent causative agent of canine babesiosis.Babesia canis is transmitted by Dermacentor reticulatus ticks. The symptoms of B. canis infection include: anorexia, lethargy, jaundice, fever, anemia and lymphadenopathy.
