General Description
YWHAB encodes the beta/alpha isoform of 14-3-3, a ubiquitously expressed phosphoserine/phosphothreonine-binding scaffold that regulates the localization and activity of hundreds of client proteins in signaling, cell cycle, and apoptosis. It integrates stress, metabolic, and immune signaling pathways. Because 14-3-3 proteins are secreted in inflammation and act as autoantigens in several diseases, YWHAB is a candidate diagnostic marker and a modulator of immune-signaling networks relevant to therapeutic targeting.
