General Description
Vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC) is a secreted growth factor of the VEGF family that acts primarily on VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3 to promote angiogenesis and, distinctively, lymphangiogenesis—the formation of lymphatic vessels. It is essential for embryonic lymphatic development and contributes to tissue fluid homeostasis and immune cell trafficking. VEGFC is investigated as a therapeutic target for lymphedema, tumor metastasis, and lymphatic vascular disorders.
