General Description
Mitochondrial ribosomal protein L9 (MRPL9) is a component of the large subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome, which translates mitochondrial-encoded mRNAs essential for oxidative phosphorylation. It contributes to mitochondrial protein synthesis and respiratory chain biogenesis. Like other mitoribosomal proteins, MRPL9 is required for energy metabolism, and its dysfunction is associated with mitochondrial disease and impaired cellular respiration.
