General Description
Basic transcription factor 3 (BTF3) is a constituent of the general transcription machinery, serving as a subunit that interacts with RNA polymerase II and the nascent polypeptide-associated complex (NAC) to support transcription and co-translational targeting of proteins. It is expressed broadly and is essential for cell viability and protein biogenesis. Although a general housekeeping factor, altered BTF3 expression has been associated with cancer and infection-related cellular reprogramming.
