Introduction
The Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) Nucleocapsid protein (N protein) is a structural protein that plays a critical role in the virus's replication and packaging. It binds to the viral RNA genome to form the ribonucleoprotein complex, which is essential for the encapsidation and protection of the viral RNA. In addition to its structural role, the N protein also interacts with host cell machinery and is involved in modulating the host immune response. Due to its high immunogenicity and abundance during infection, the PEDV N protein is commonly used as a target for diagnostic assays and serological studies.
