General Description
Anti-Jo-1 Antibody is a specific autoantibody that targets histidyl-tRNA synthetase (HisRS), an enzyme involved in protein synthesis. It is a key biomarker in the diagnosis and management of certain autoimmune diseases, particularly those affecting the muscles and connective tissues.
Anti-Jo-1 antibodies are commonly detected in patients with these conditions, with a positivity rate of approximately 25–40%.
Studies have shown a correlation between anti-Jo-1 antibody levels and disease activity. Higher levels of these antibodies are often associated with more severe disease manifestations, including ILD and significant muscle involvement.
