General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-L1504W) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human GHRF. Growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), also known as somatoliberin or somatocrinin, is a hypothalamic peptide hormone consisting of 44 amino acids that specifically stimulates the synthesis and release of growth hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary gland. First isolated in 1982 from a human pancreatic tumor causing acromegaly, GHRH was identified as a 44-amino acid peptide with potent GH-releasing activity, marking a significant discovery in endocrinology. Beyond its primary role in regulating growth and metabolism through GH secretion, GHRH exhibits neuroprotective effects and has been linked to anti-inflammatory signaling via its receptor, the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR). Recent clinical trials, including the SMART study, have demonstrated that GHRH administration improves cognitive function in healthy older adults and those with mild cognitive impairment, with favorable effects observed after 20 weeks of treatment. Synthetic analogs like somatorelin, a version of GHRH, are used diagnostically to assess GH deficiency, underscoring its clinical importance in evaluating pituitary function.
CABT-L1504W is suitable for use in ELISA application.
CABT-L1504W is supplied as a lyophilized formulation. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
