General Description
Anti-soluble liver antigen (SLA) antibodies are autoantibodies primarily associated with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), particularly AIH type 1, and can be a marker for the disease in patients where other antibodies are absent. These antibodies are directed against a UGA-suppressor tRNA associated protein and their presence suggests the need for immunosuppressive treatment, as they are linked to higher rates of relapse after steroid therapy.
