This antibody shows antitumor activity both in vitro and in vivo. Chimeric KM966 markedly suppressed the establishment of f human tumor xenografts in nude mice. Indirect immunofluorescence staining of tumor cell lines with the chimeric KM966 revealed that the antigen was expressed in substantial amounts on pulmonary tumor cells and leukemia cells as well as neuroectodermal origin tumor cells. This antibody also reacts with GM2 in an ELISA and also can be used for the identification of tumor cells expressing GM2 via flow cytometry. This antibody was also used in the immunocytochemical staining of cultured skin fibroblast of patients with GM2-gangliosidosis.
