Intended Use

The Estrogen ELISA Kit is an immnoassay for detection of Estrogen in human serum.

Contents of Kit

1. Rabbit Anti-Estrogens Antibody-Coated Break-Apart Well Microplate — Ready To Use.
One 96-well (12×8) polyclonal antibody-coated microplate in a resealable pouch with desiccant. Unopened: Stable until the expiry date printed on the label. After Opening: Stable for three weeks.

2. Estrogen-HRP Conjugate — Ready to Use.
Estrogen-HRP conjugate in a protein-based buffer with a nonmercury preservative. 20 mL/bottle.
Stability: Unopened: Stable until the expiry date printed on the label. After Opening: Stable for three weeks.

3. Calibrators — Ready To Use.
Seven vials containing estrogen in a protein-based buffer with a non-mercury preservative. Prepared by spiking buffer with a defined quantity of estrogens.

4. Controls — Ready to Use.
Two vials containing estrogen in a protein-based buffer with a non-mercury preservative. Prepared by spiking serum with defined quantities of total estrogens. Refer to vial labels for the acceptable range. 1.0 mL/vial. Unopened: Stable until the expiry date printed on the label. After Opening: Stable for three weeks.

5. Wash Buffer Concentrate — Requires Preparation ×10
One bottle containing buffer with a non-ionic detergent and a non-mercury preservative. 50 mL/bottle. 12 months or as indicated on label.
Dilute 1:10 in distilled or deionized water before use. If the whole microplate is to be used dilute 50 mL of the wash buffer concentrate in 450 mL of distilled or deionized water. Stable until the expiry date printed on the label. After Opening: Stable for three weeks. Working wash buffer stability: Following preparation, the working wash buffer is stable for up to 2 weeks when stored at 2-8°C.

6. TMB Substrate — Ready To Use.
One bottle containing tetramethylbenzidine and hydrogen peroxide in a non-DMF or DMSO containing buffer. 16 mL/bottle.
Unopened: Stable until the expiry date printed on the label. After Opening: Stable for three weeks.

7. Stopping Solution — Ready To Use.
One bottle containing 1M sulfuric acid. 6 mL/bottle.

General Description

Estrogens are a group of compounds named for their importance in the estrous cycle of humans and other animals. They are the primary female sex hormones. Natural estrogens are steroid hormones, while some synthetic ones are non-steroidal. The name comes from the Greek, literally meaning "gadfly" but figuratively sexual passion or desire, and the suffix -gen, meaning "producer of".
Estrogens are synthesized in all vertebrates as well as some insects. Their presence in both vertebrates and insects suggests that estrogenic sex hormones have an ancient evolutionary history.
