General Description

Diaveridine (DVD) is an antibacterial synergist which can interfere with bacterial nucleic acid synthesis. DVD has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against most Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus anthracis. DVD also has remarkable activity against coccidia. Therefore, it is widely used to prevent chicken coccocidiosis, fowl cholera and pullorum (1, 2).
