Danofloxacin is a veterinary fluoroquinolone that blocks bacterial DNA replication by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. It is commonly used in livestock infection research and veterinary pharmacokinetics. Danofloxacin supports studies on antimicrobial resistance evolution and quinolone mechanism comparisons. It is also used as a model in drug–enzyme binding studies.
