Introduction
Brevetoxin C is a structural analog of brevetoxin A, produced by the marine dinoflagellate Karenia brevis. It acts as a neurotoxic sodium channel modulator, altering channel opening and closing kinetics. Brevetoxin C contributes to neurotoxic shellfish poisoning and marine mammal toxicity. It provides a useful comparative model for studying the structure–activity relationships and ecological effects of polyether marine toxins.
