Avian nephritis virus (ANV), also called Avastrovirus 2, is an astrovirus which causes 'avian nephritis' in chickens. It has been known to infect chickens causing a disease condition characterized by diarrhoea, retarded growth, tubulonephrosis, interstitial nephritis, uricosis (gout) and even death.
