Amitraz is a formamidine acaricide and insecticide that acts primarily through modulation of octopamine receptors and monoamine oxidase inhibition in arthropods, resulting in paralysis and death. Widely used in agriculture and veterinary medicine for mite and tick control, amitraz is also an important reference in toxicology, resistance studies, and neuropharmacology of invertebrate neurotransmission. Its metabolites and environmental behavior are commonly examined in residue analysis and safety assessments.
