Background/Aim: Asthma, as a chronic disease characterized by chronic airway inflammation and hyperresponsiveness, has seriously affected the quality of life of patients and aggravated the economic burden of society. Baicalin is a traditional Chinese medicine with anti-inflammatory and anti-honor effects, but its role and mechanism in asthma is not fully clear. Methods: C57b116 mice induced by ovalbumin (OVAO were used as asthma models. Elisa assay, western blot analysis and Cell flow cytometry were performed to detect inflammatory factor prooduction, protein expression and inflammatory cell population, respectively. SPSS 220 was used in this study. Results: The total cell, eosinophil, macrophage, lymphocyte, and neutrophil counts significantly enhanced in asthmatic mice treated was evidently attenuated by baicalin administration in a dose-dependent manner. The OVA-induced RI elevation, Cdyn reduction and systemic immunoglobulin production could be efficiently relived by baicalin. in addition, baicalin could attenuate allergic airway injury via regulating Th1/Th2 cytokines and JAK-STAT6 pathway. Conclusion: We confirmed the potential molecular mechanism of baicalin on asthma, that is, reducing airway damage via regulating Th1/Th2 cytokines and inhibiting JAK/STAT6 pathway, and providing potential guidance for clinical treatment of asthma.
