General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-BL2634) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human NMB, targeting the amino acid region 25–121 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Neuromedin B (NMB) is a bombesin-like neuropeptide in mammals, originally purified from porcine spinal cord and widely expressed in the central nervous system (CNS) and gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It functions primarily by binding to the neuromedin B receptor (NMBR), a G-protein-coupled receptor with seven transmembrane domains, which activates intracellular signaling pathways such as phospholipase C, calcium mobilization, and protein kinase C to mediate diverse physiological effects including smooth muscle contraction, exocrine and endocrine secretion, thermoregulation, blood pressure modulation, and cell growth. NMBR is prominently localized in brain regions like the olfactory bulb, thalamus, and hypothalamus, as well as in peripheral tissues such as the GI tract and urogenital system. Although earlier studies suggested roles in feeding behavior and insulin release, targeted knockout models in mice have demonstrated that neuronal NMB does not alter body weight, adiposity, food intake, glucose homeostasis, or insulin secretion under standard or high-fat diets, highlighting potential species-specific or context-dependent functions. The NMB gene, located on human chromosome 15q25.2, encodes a precursor protein that is processed into the mature 10-amino-acid peptide, with high sequence conservation across species (e.g., 73% homology between human and mouse).
CABT-BL2634 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
CABT-BL2634 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
